Professional Skin Care Look

When you walk in a room, have people notice your Beauty not your make-up!

The place to start for skin care that looks professional is clear healthy skin, it’s a must. Whereas many women simply wash their face, cleansing the skin is important to the final finish. To effectively cleanse the skin, NEVER, EVER use soap off the shelf of the drugstore or grocery mart. A professional cleansing product that is specifically developed for your skin type is mandatory. World-class products, supplied by IH Distribution, include Cleansing Cream for dry skin, Cleansing Lotion for oily skin, hydrating wash with anti-aging properties for mature skin. More information about these products can be obtained from www.ihdistribution.com. Next, NEVER scrub your face with a washcloth, always use the fingertips. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a towel.

A critical step often missed is the use of a toner or freshener, which is also directly tailored to your skin type; this is important because it will remove any remaining oil, debris, or remnants the cleanser left behind. Then, using the proper moisturizer (again, tailored to your skin type) is paramount.

The foundation used is vitally important because where eye shadow, blush and lipstick may accent your facial features; the foundation sets the tone for a woman’s visual appearance. Find a shade that disappears into your skin, which will be the correct shade for your complexion. IH Distribution has 15 different shades for which one perfectly matches everyone’s skin. The About Face Line Defiance Makeup is SPF8, which smoothes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. The new line of liquid makeup is blended with vitamins A & E to protect against the invisible enemy - Time.

When using a blush to accent facial features, use a slightly darker shade to provide a contour to your face and provide cheekbones that “lift” from your face. Start at the earlobe down towards the cheek so a “glob” isn’t left on the cheek. Use a blush that is lighter in color to bring out the highlights.

Eye makeup - use shadows to effectively reflect your moods! Take time to practice and you can apply eye shadow accurately and easily. Keep in mind that light colors highlight features and dark colors diminish. Use either 2 or 3 different shades, start with the lightest first on the entire eye lid, medium lower only and the darkest on the outer corner which provides a perception of depth.

Eyeliner should be applied with short strokes and remember to start at the center and work outside to the corners.

To complete the look and the mood, quality mascara finishes your eye make-up — with dark eyes use navy, black, or dark brown.

Nail color - Use a polish that compliments the overall tones of your make-up. For example, if you were using natural shades on your lips and cheeks, stay with a natural color for nails.

Finally, lip color adds the striking appearance that makes a woman stand out and appear desirable. A professional skin care tip is to try to use a lip pencil to outline the lips prior to lipstick application; it’s a personal thing but very defining on some women. Also, try a small brush from tube lipstick to help define the contours of the mouth but, more importantly, really control the amount of color that’s applied. Another professional skin care tip is to lightly apply powder over the lips before applying the lipstick which helps it stay on longer. For effective lipstick stain removal, apply a dab of glycerin and wash as usual.

How to Brush Your Skin to Relieve Acne

Brushing your skin with a brush or cloth is an excellent way to improve the appearance of your skin. If you have acne, this brushing will help to eliminate toxins through the skin and reduce the toxins that accumulate in your acne.

Brushing your skin while dry and just before taking a shower is a way to stimulate the flow of liquid through lymphatic system and increase the circulating of blood. It also has other benefits:

  • Removes and brushes away dry dead cells that can clog your skin
  • Opens pores to allow you to excrete more toxins safely
  • Activates the nerves near the top of your skin, making your skin work better
  • It stimulates the tiny blood vessels near your skin and brings more nutrients and acid neutralizing minerals to your skin
  • Improves your overall health since the skin must eliminate close to 2 pounds of waste through your pores.

If you practice dry or wet brushing your skin, you will see improved beauty and health in your skin.

You can also scrub your skin during your shower and this is the way I like to do it.

There are two different types of brushes that are designed for dry skin brushing.

  • A natural bristle brush
  • Loofah with a long handle

When you start bushing for the first time, do it softly and gentle until your skin gets use to the rough feeling. If you have not been brushing and scrubbing your skin, then you may have some side effects caused by stirring up toxins. Because skin brushing promotes release of toxins through the skin, you want to make sure you are not constipated, otherwise you will start to release to many toxins through the skin.

A word of caution: Brush only once a day and do not brush too hard. Excessive brushing over stimulates the skin and can produce unwanted side effects.

But, here is how to dry brush your skin before you take a shower,

  • Start with gentle light touch circular motions at your face. If you have severe acne do this gently massage with a clean hot face towel and do not brush your face.
  • Always brush only in the direction of your heart. From the feet upward, brush up toward the heart. At the neck, brush downward toward the heart.

After you finish brushing, about 5 minutes, take a shower to remove the dead and old skin.

What I do is use a loofa in the shower with soap and brush my skin as described above. It is a gentler way to brush your skin and you wash away the skin derby at the same time. Brushing your body decreases the amount of toxins that reach your face and can help you get rid of or prevent acne.

Minimize Skin Scarring

Whether caused by injury, surgery, or burn, scars can be disfiguring. Scars stand out against the rest of the skin because scar tissue is different than ordinary skin. As a result, scars usually take a different color. The severity of a scar depends on many factors including the size and depth of the wound, the thickness and color of the skin. Some people, especially those with deeper skin tones, have a tendency to produce prominent raised scars.

If you’re like most people, you have few battle scars. Lifelong reminders of the time you wiped out on your bike at age 6, the knee surgery you had in college, a bad sunburn, or a recent run-in with a paring knife. Fortunately, many scars will fade in time; for those that don’t, products like Rejuvenating Cream, distributed by IH Distribution LLC (www.ihdistribution.com) will help reduce or eliminate scarring.

Some tips for scar management and minimizing scarring:

DON’T wipe fresh wounds with hydrogen peroxide.
The bubbles make is feel like something good is happening, but hydrogen peroxide actually destroys new skin cells that immediately begin to grow.

DO cover a cut. The old wives tale about allowing a “fresh” cut to breathe will actually not support rapid healing. A covered cut actually heals by as much as 50% faster. The moisture that builds up in a covered cut prevents formation of a hard scab, which acts as a barrier to the growth of new skin. The covering should be changed daily and an antibiotic ointment, which also prevents infection, actually speeds up skin’s repair. After a week, replacing antibiotic cream with petroleum jelly keeps the skin soft, allowing it to grow optimally.

DON’T fall for the tale about treating with Vitamin E. A major study at the University of Miami has shown putting liquid Vitamin E on a wound actually impairs healing.

DO apply constant pressure on a fresh wound with a sterile bandage or silicone sheeting pad. Constant pressure actually helps to flatten the skin on both sides of a wound to reduce scarring.

DON’T expose new scars to the sun. UV rays are detrimental to the healing process and actually cause skin discoloration, which highlights the scar. Always cover a scar or healing wound or use a premium broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

IH Distribution LLC (www.ihdistribution.com) distributes a premium product called “Take Cover for Face and Body”. It’s water resistant, PBA free and protects from both UVA and UVB rays. It is rated SPF 30+ and it formulated with antioxidant vitamins A, C, & E. It is both Pediatrician and Dermatologist tested, is guaranteed non-irritating and non-sensitizing.

DO gently massage the scar once the surface is healed. Gentle massage helps breakdown the dense bands of skin that attach to the underlying tissue, which is a common physiological reaction to cesarean sections, appendectomies, and hand wounds. Once skin has grown over the site, gently massaging with a lotion such as Rejuvenating Cream by IH Distribution LLC (www.ihdistribution.com) is effective. Dr. Robert Bernard, M.D., Plastic Surgeon in New York, states gently massaging with an effective cream is one of the most effective techniques, early on, to minimize scarring.

DON’T ignore a scar that becomes inflamed, reddened, raised, or itchy. These signs may indicate an infection or allergic reaction to the antibacterial cream used or even the bandage.

DO ask your physician to eliminate stitches before they leave “track marks”. Usually after a week’s time, skin is healed sufficient for stitch removal and this prevents the little bumps that form on either side of the incision and can become permanent reminders.

Cosmetics applied correctly can also be ver good at covering scars. Stick with all-natural products that do not contain animal product or by-products or petroleum based formulations.
